IE8: "Show first set" arrow/button disappears if too many messages (and therefore string too long)

Description
In the Roundcube dev-List, I currently have 11,383 messages. If German as UI language is enabled and I click on the "Show last set" right-arrow/button below the message list, the left-arrow/button "Show first set" disappears completely.
Apparently the string between the arrows is too long, as this problem doesn't occur in the English UI:
German: "Nachrichten 11383 bis 11383 von 11383"
English: "Messages 11383 to 11383 of 11383"
The longer German string apparently shifts the "Show first set" left-arrow/button so much to the left that it is neither visible nor clickable anymore. This may also apply to languages other than German, but I couldn't test them all.
This applies to the Classic skin, Larry untested (but most likely it's even worse there).
