In many cases the information in the field name is a combinations out of firstname and surname. If one doesn't enter the name field, a warnig is displayed.
I'd rather like to have this field been automtically set to "firstname surname", if such entered.
A subquestion (arrived here) could be: Offer an option in addressbook setting to ask for the name style aka. "Firstname Surname" or "Surname, Firstname".

In current trunk (work-in-progress for 0.6) the display name is composed from first name and surname if not set. An option for this is planned.
