Resizeable columns in messagelist

The current messagelist table uses a fixed width. It serves its purpose well but one problem that may arise is e.g. when receiving an email with a subject longer string than the column can handle to show by default.

I think that improving the message list to make it more "application like" would benefit the project a lot. So I started searching for a Javascript solution to this and found a project doing exactly that and found a jQuery based project called ​Flexigrid.

Perhaps sorting order and column can be improved by this as well.

What's the problem with long subject string?
