Just like Gmail, I'd like to suggest that Roundcube prefetch messages in background for instant display in the preview pane.

Many of my customers perceive (and report) an unexpected delay when opening their emails. I did some benchmarking and, on average, it takes 0.7 to 1.5 seconds to open.

Not so bad for a web app, but customers simply don't get it: the expected behavior of a mail application (think of Outlook or Thunderbird) is to open any messages instantly.

Try Thunderbird, Outlook or Outlook Express with IMAP, not POP3. The timings should be similar.

The suggestion is really interesting.
