AJAX update with new messages doesn't correctly sort message list

Description

When an AJAX checkmail happens and new messages are found, they are not correctly placed in the sorted message list. See the attached screenshot. A full refresh of the page causes the list to be resorted correctly.

Linux/Apache 1.3.x, PHP 4.4.4 Safari 3.1 Windows

I can reproduce this. To add to this, when an email is added to the current list, it also often displays the date as "2008-04-02", instead of "Today" (noticed it today).

Newly arrived messages are placed on top of the list and I think this is OK.
