Usage of mdb2 versus db

When installing trunk we found out that mdb2 is not working (library missing?)... and I cannot use RC.

I think it is wise to think about the usage of mdb2 to make sure we dont loose community adoption. We could change the way the program works to set mdb2 as default, but test if it is available... if not the program changes to db.

Thinking further along this line we could loose the whole config option as a whole. The program preference is mdb2 and switches to db is mdb2 is not supported/installed

Could also be that the library has to be added and voila.
