H, when I select messages with the SHIFT key and I previously deleted some messages, then the index is incremented by 1 + [the number of deleted messages].

To reproduce: 

1. select the top message and click SHIFT - DOWN twice = 3 messages selected
2. select the top message - DRAG to trash
3. select the top message and click SHIFT - DOWN twice = 5 messages selected
4. select the top message - DRAG to trash
5. select the top message and click SHIFT - DOWN twice = 7 messages selected
