IMAP login accepted even if the password is not absolutely correct

I guess I found an abnormal behaviour in the IMAP-Connection.

If I have a password like "testpassword123" I can login with "testpassword". Then I have full control over the mailbox, as I have full control of the mailbox, except that I can't send mails.

This is probably due to your IMAP server using crypt for passwords, which on many systems results in the passwords being truncated at 8 characters. If you have a password longer than 8 characters in a system like this, it doesn't matter what you type after the 8th character, it will still pass the check.

Roundcube merely passes the given password on to the server, it's up to the IMAP server to pass/fail at that stage.
