German umlauts lost after sending mail

using cvs-20060505, after sending a mail all umlauts are not displayed properly, even the special mailbox names and the status at the bottom is garbled.

It needs a reload and umlauts are back. I saved the source code from the browser (IE6) and made a diff, but there was no difference between before and after reload.
